Lightbulb Project Bluefoot: Intelligent Design Competition (AJ XXV - Deadline JULY 25TH, 2009)

Assignment #1: Design the Air Jordan XXV (Deadline: July 25th, 2009)

Project Bluefoot: Intelligent Design Competition is a monthly, theme-based competition for aspiring footwear designers to showcase their talent to the athletic footwear industry and the general public at large.

Official Rules:

- Designers will be judged on 3 primary components: Inspiration (backstory), Sketches, and Final Rendering. One overall Final Rating will be given for each individual design and graded on a scale of 1 to 10 (1 being lowest and 10 being highest), taking into account the three primary design components holistically.

- 3 graphics/pages may be submitted per designer.

- Each graphic may be maximum 800×600 pixel dimension.

- 10 Finalist Designs will be chosen from all submissions by each month’s Intelligent Design Competition judges and posted to the website for live public voting. At the end of public voting, the Top 3 Finalists with the highest public scores will be graded by a select 3 judge panel to decide each month’s Intelligent Design Competition winner.

- Any attempts to artificially manipulate or inflate ratings will result in automatic suspension from the PBF:ID Competition.

First of all I would like to say thank you to Project Bluefoot for providing a place for aspiring designers to showcase their talents.

Next, I would like to say thank you to Vocaldigital23 for letting me know about this months competition and asking me to be apart of it.

Lastly, to all of you that will submit a design against this months challenge PLEASE represent the JORDAN Brand and bring some heat!

I will be checking in from time to time to see how this site is developing and looking for future talent.

Good Luck to everyone.

Good luck......
Designing the AJ is the most difficult project in the world to do....Trust me. I know......Just have fun, follow your gut and make sure its about performance. This is the time in your design career where politics and other things don't cloud your vision...Have fun, keep each other honest and be inspired by your peers. If you want to take our jobs some day it will take a lot more than just a nice sketch. Really dig deep and learn about the world of design, art history and the culture of sport. And please LEARN HOW TO CRITIQUE A DESIGN. Saying that something is "fugly" is not only childish but it does not help you to develope a proper "Design Vocab". Giving and recieving a good crit is a science not an artform. There are proper and formal ways to comment on shape, line quality, aesthetic, color theory and theme, to name a few. Educate yourselves. Go to an art gallery opening and listen to how people describe their work. This has always been a useful tool for me to learn the vocab of Art and Design.....Thats my two cents for the day

Lastly, show respect to one another. Keep the hatred for other sites. Not this one. These guys are trying to start something fresh.

If anyone has ANY QUESTIONS please feel free to get at me. Closed mouths do not get fed.

God Bless,

JayMay

More details to come. Discuss here...

Yeah, I'll keep this thread and the main site updated with new competition details and how to submit your designs soon

Project Bluefoot is an online sneaker magazine and discussion forum. We're covering the athletic footwear industry in general, with a focus on performance footwear products. There will be an emphasis on the design aspect, most particularly with these monthly competitions, along with designer interviews and a unique "Encyclopedia" feature that profiles the design inspiration for individual sneaker models along with some revealing photography (next week )

I know Tony (VD23) got to word out on KG/Core77/NT, so you all are free to post your screen names on here and regroup. KG seems to have died without notice, but I think you'll all find the monthly program we put together here a more than suitable replacement. I'm Steez on Niketalk (Administrator), btw.

Tony can also answer questions regarding the design competition as well - he's one of the monthly judges and is moderating the forums here.

about KG, I wish they did have a notice, so just to know what's going on, good to see there are others taking initiative. I hope this gets going for a long time.

I hope this site catches up

I'm wondering about the selection and grading process, where can we view this? Are we going to vote in a poll like in other forums? I'm just curious

Yeah, really glad to see some of the guys here from KG. I hated to see it die. I am glad that there is another place for people to come and enjoy their passion together. Hopefully we will see some people from the core77 boards as well.
